Creed & Tony Take ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and Donate Restaurant Sales

August 25, 2014 - AUSTIN - With the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge taking the nation by storm it seems like just about everyone from celebrities to the kid next door have been called out to either donate or douse themselves with a bucket of ice cold water. Two local restaurant owners, Tony Ciola and Creed Ford IV accepted the challenge and decided to take it a step further by donating 10% of their restaurant sales this coming Wednesday, August 27th. Even better, they nominated Ford’s father, Creed Ford III, CEO of Johnny Carino’s Italian Restaurants, to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and make a similar donation.

Ciola and Ford have four restaurant locations in the Austin area, which include Tony C’s Italian Kitchen and The League Kitchen & Tavern, both located in Lakeway and Avery Ranch areas. The restaurants will be donating to Project A.L.S.

The dining duo took the challenge over the weekend after being nominated by staff members and friends. “We were nominated multiple times by our team members and became inspired by their personal stories as well as the story of Peter Frates. Tony and I knew we had to accept the challenge but we wanted to do something more” said Ford.

Ford and Ciola’s Ice Bucket Challenge video will be posted to their Facebook pages and they are encouraging people to dine at one of their establishments on Wednesday. A portion of every check will be donated.

Chef Louis Ciola Returns to Austin

Ciola Set to Join Tc4 & Co. as Executive Chef

April 8,  2014 -- AUSTIN -- Chef Louis Ciola returns to Austin this April to join locally owned restaurant group, Tc4 & Co. Third generation chef, Ciola discovered his culinary aspirations while washing dishes at his family’s restaurant in a small town in Minnesota. He went on to earn a degree from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, before becoming Executive Chef at the iconic Italian restaurant in Austin, Ciola’s Italian-American Restaurant. In 2010, Ciola moved to Minneapolis to continue building his impressive résumé, working alongside James Beard Best Chef Midwest, Tim McKee, at award winning La Belle Vie. Ciola also spent time with James Beard Best Chef Midwest Finalist Lucia Watson of Lucia’s.

At Tc4 & Co., Ciola joins cousin, Tony Ciola and long-time friend Creed Ford IV in their continued pursuit to open and operate successful restaurants in the Austin area.

“Ciola’s was one of my all time favorite restaurants in Austin and where Tony and I dreamed up the idea of starting our own restaurant company. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when Louie decided to move back to Austin and join the Tc4 & Co. team.” said Ford.

Ciola’s highly anticipated return will be celebrated with an April 21st wine dinner at Tony C’s  Pizza & Wine Bar in Avery Ranch. The dinner features four courses by Ciola, paired with classic Italian wines from Antinori Family Vineyards and special guest, Italian wine specialist Gabe Chiocca of Italy.
